Feeling Second

Always Coming in Second
©Jordan Hile 2015

Second place isn’t that bad. It’s not first place and it’s not last but I know we all know that it is just not first place. There’s a season in life where in everything you do you come in at second place. Honestly, it’s annoying.

There’s a choice between me and another guy and I get picked second. I also feel like it’s almost like I get leftovers from other people. I may even go to say that I”m their second choice.

It makes me question if I’m not trying enough or if I’m not good enough for the people in my life. Maybe something is wrong with me or maybe I just am doing something wrong?

In actuality that’ not true. What’s really happening is that you’re not appreciated by the people who you surround yourself with. But it’s not their problem it’s your problem.

You’re looking to improve in another person’s world, game or business when you know you’ll be better off creating and running your own thing. Why settle for second when you feel as if you can do more for a company that chooses the wrong person to help it advance? It’s time to step out from your comfort zone and do your own thing.

Not for a single second think that you need to settle or let go of your goals. Don’t ever believe your expectations are too high and your requirements are unattainable. Anything is possible for the person who is willing to work toward anything they want.

As for me, I wanted a better marriage and asked my husband to step up to the plate. I was upset with my employers who wanted nothing to do with fresh ideas and wouldn’t reassess their management style. The only improvement they wanted came from their minds and not from their employees. I was fed up.

My question to you is are you fed up? Or are you fine with dealing with second place? Are you complaining

Are you complaining about second place but not willing to do what it takes to be first place?

The people who make it to first are not more talented than you, they only work harder than you.

The best breakdancers dance at least 4 hours a day just to keep themselves in top shape and learn new moves. They breathe and live off of breakdancing. Breakers attend sessions and search for new hip hop music to advance their musicality.

The best entrepreneurs and business owners work out every day and are first to enter their business and last to leave. These people take pay cuts to follow their dreams and surround themselves with people who are first in their business.

The best athletes may have a natural talent at what they do but they also never miss practice. They are team players and will do everything they can to motivate their team for the win.

The biggest coincidence between any of these examples is that they all work harder than anyone else could possibly want to. they know that to be the best at anything you have to work harder than the person in second place. It’s the only way to be first at anything that you do.

If you find yourself in second place would you consider yourself working as hard or harder than the people who are in first place? How early do you get up? Do you take value in your physical health? Have you considered doing your own thing?

Each person who is famous, rich or well-known for what they do picked one thing that they wanted to be first place at. Business owners, MMA fighters, guitarists, entrepreneurs, race car drivers, artists, musicians, and anyone else you can think of that you find successful at what they do all worked for what they wanted. They all chose to be first place at what they do.

They don’t care if they knock people down while they climb up because they know this is a world in where the strongest survive. They understand that this is the way the world works.

Some people will push people down and others will do things the right way, It’s all on you how you want to do things.

If you find that you keep coming up in second place, it’s time to step up to the mat and take more swings. It’s time to expose yourself and  take bigger steps. What is it that you want to be known for?

Whatever that is, do you know what it’ll take to get there?

Are you willing to sacrifice some luxuries for your ultimate goal?

If not, you’ll be regular middle-class Joe, which if you’re happy to be that, that’s all great but I know I’m not. I want to be the best at what I do. I want to be the best at being real and being relatable.

I want to be the best at being honest.

All the big shots in the world look at other people and wonder why these people don’t hustle more? Why do these people just want a comfortable life?

No one wants to live check to check and stay in meaningless relationships. Set your bar and head for the goal.

If your goal is to have a wonderful woman be that amazing of a man. If your goal is to be your own boss learn everything you can about running your own business.

Second place is better than third but it’s only second place. Become a winner and shoot for the gold.
