How to Wait for the Phone Call

How to Wait for the Phone Call

Your phone is playing games with you. All of a sudden you don’t trust that it’s receiving calls or recording voicemails. You now question if your email is working or if the sound on your phone is all the way up. Waiting for someone to call you is a drag. We all want the answer now. I want to know if I got the job or if I need to move on. I need to know my next step. The anxiety is killing me!

Thoughts run through our minds when we’re waiting for a phone call from a potential employer, family member or doctor with either good or not so great news. 😕

Either way, you need that call. They may have told you that they would contact you early next week, tomorrow or next month. No matter to you, you just need that call!

It’s the worst when someone tells you they’ll call you by next week and it’s been 2 weeks and you haven’t received any feedback from them.

Well, unfortunately for you that call you’re waiting for is in the hands of the other person. This call is in the hands of God. Whether you get the job or not, the diagnosis is certain or if you’re going to find out if your relatives are staying for Thanksgiving or not, the decision is out of your hands. The decision is not “mine” to control. In other words, any worry or frustration you have about this call has to be given up to God.

The choice is mine. If I want to keep fretting and have this call consume my mind then I can go for it. You won’t go to Hell for that but you do have another option and that option is to be free from the thoughts and the anxiety. It’s easier said than done but it is possible.

I choose to pray to God every morning or moment I get worried about anything now. Even if this call will change my life forever the life, in the moment I have to continue working and keep being happy toward what I have now. My life is not my own but bought by God with Christ as payment. I need to be content with whatever answer I receive and that’s even if I receive a no answer. It’s all up to Daddy God.

I believe that worry is a lack of trust and faith in Daddy God and luckily my Father gave me that emotion as a red flag to warn me that something wrong is going on in my mind. The battle for my mind, my friend, is fierce and so I must always be on guard. Declaring and stating every day that today is a great day and that good things are coming today- keep my mind clear and keep my mind protected.

Look, God placed highly specific dreams and hope in your heart, whether you believe that or not, these dreams are huge and cannot be done without His help. There are moments in life where it is up to Him to make the decision for you. In that case, you must wait.

I think about it like this: If it’s God’s problem now, He’ll pick the best decision and I’m free from the worry or anxiety of this call. I don’t have to do anything but wait. I just have to sit down and breathe. It doesn’t mean I sit down and watch Netflix all day until I realize I didn’t get the job, but it means I can keep being the best person I can be while I wait for my answer.

Surely, that’s not the answer anyone is looking for but it is what it is.

Wait for an answer and rest in Christ knowing that the best answer is coming your way. Once you feel that you need to do another move, go for it. Apply for another job, call the doctor back or talk to your relatives. If you’re unsure of what to do just wait. If you haven’t received your answer yet, wait. In the meantime, you can learn about the company you applied for or teach yourself hip-hop choreography.

As soon as you feel the nudge to make more moves, go ahead and do so. Until then, wait peacefully.

‭Psalm‬ ‭145:16-19

“Generous to a fault, you lavish your favor on all creatures. Everything GOD does is right— the trademark on all his works is love. GOD ’s there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it. He does what’s best for those who fear him— hears them call out, and saves them.”‬

The word fear doesn’t mean that He only does right to those who are scared of Him. He does right by those who respect Him, worship Him and love Him. All you have to be saved and God will give you Jesus’ favor. Choose to believe good is here today. Choose to think positive. Declare your righteousness in Christ and state your purpose every day and anytime your faith falls short. Jesus’ faith is perfect and if His faith is perfect as is yours.
